What's The-Big-Idea?

I'm trying to show you Something-Different

How you spend your days is how you spend your life.

What did you do today?

My Friend Tony always introduces me to his friends as an artist. "This is my friend, Ray, she's an artist!" he will say. I have very little time that i can actually spend working on art projects, but i spend all of my time consuming art. To me, Everything-Is-Art. The world is one big living, breathing work of art built from an incomprehensible amount of little tiny moving arts. I think everyone is an artist whether they want to be or not, but the people who want to be get extra creative with it. I take the human experience very seriously- my life is performance art, it's visual art, it's literary art- poetry even. How i spend my days is how i will have spent my life, and i spend every day admiring, inspiring, creating, supporting, and loving. Love is art.

If you're only going to do one thing every day, Let-It-Be-Love.

"Some boys take a beautiful girl and hide her away from the rest of the world, I want to be the one to walk in the sun."

"I can't let things be this way. We can be wonderful, we can be magnificent. We can turn this shit around."

We have got to take life back. So much of the way we experience the world has fallen out of our control. We need to be embracing subjectivity. We should be making websites, writing letters, going outside, reading fat books, having boring conversations and even sitting in silence. We need to surround ourselves with unfamiliar things, put ourselves in uncomfortable situations, and live our lives with a constant attention to detail. We need to slow down, question everything and embrace change. Embrace eachother. Embrace ourselves. Community is the most valuable asset we have. Supporting our community is the most valuable effort we can put in. Connect with people. Ask a stranger to tell you a story.

Something-Has-To-Happen

I've spent so much time planning. I've wasted so many perfectly good days waiting for a better one. Planning is important but like anything else it can become an addiction. Too much of anything is bad and planning can very easily become a vice. If you let planning become a vice it will actively keep you stagnant. To prevent stagnance you must very seldom give yourself permission to put your energy towards efforts that will not produce productivity towards your ultimate goal. You can't make excuses for yourself-- you must reject excuses. Feel guilty for not living up to your full potential. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and start making yourself proud. Putting in the work is hard but disappointing yourself will always be harder. Don't just sit around waiting for life to happen to you, make life happen. This life is not about finding yourself but rather about creating yourself. When you wake up, make your bed and restart. Pay attention to the things that make you feel alive. Take note of the things that make you feel aligned with the path to becoming the person you want to be. Decide who you want to be- decide what you want your life to be and make it yours.

"A man on a thousand mile walk has to forget his ultimate goal and say to himself every morning "Today I'm going to cover twenty-five miles and then rest up and sleep."

"I had a vision.

I lay half asleep in the dirt. The sun set behind the

hills and burnt my skin. And in the dream I saw a throne-my throne,

built on the tower of my life.

When I woke all i could think of was my vision,

etched so clearly in my mind.

I worked for three days and three nights

with no food or drink, until my vision had become reality--perfect

in every detail."
